So it's been a while. Motherhood caught up with me and left me little time for recreational activities, even though music is much more than recreational for me. It's a life necessity. While I was gone I had the absolute pleasure of discovering Ulrich Schnauss. He plays around with a rainbow of vibrations....taking you from melancholy to triumph in the blink of an eye. The song Goodbye was the first one I heard and it left a permanent impression on me. It made me think of what it would feel like to transition from this world to the next. It made me think of all the things that surround us that we can't see...(yet) Another song I fell for is Monday Paracetamol. What an atmospheric masterpiece. All of his songs are very atmospheric and beautiful. If you are looking for a unique electroinic mastermind with shoegazer undertones...check him out. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
The word Eargasm is a fairly accurate description for this song!!! I first heard this group's remake of the Gorillaz song "Crystalised" and had to listen for more!!! Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim's voices sound like they were made to for each other. Give it a listen and see what you think. Also, I have decided to start posting all of the music that I have listened to that got me to this point. That will be everything from Ella Fitzgerald to Type O Negative...plus all my new favorites. So stay tuned. Enjoy!
Infinity
After all the time After you Had you seen me with someone new Hanging so high for your return But the stillness is a burn
Had I seen it in your eyes There'd have been no try after try Your leaving had no goodbye Had I just seen one in your eyes
I can't give it up To someone elses touch Because I care too much [x2]
Could you tell I was left lost and lonely Could you tell Things ain't worked out my way
Wish the best for you Wish the best for me Wished for infinity If that ain't me
Give it up I can't give it up [x2]
I can't give it up To someone elses touch Because I care too much [x2]
Having grown up in the 90's, I was aware of Bjork's music/art/personality. There were a few songs I liked, hunter, human behavior, army of me....pretty much the stuff they played on the radio. Why is it that some of the most awesome songs on albums are NOT played on the radio? Always wanted to know that... So jump forward from the 90's to 2010. I rediscover BJORK in a major way!!! Be prepared to hear A LOT about her in this blog's future...one song at a time. That's how much her music has impacted me!!!!
First, a little about what I LOVE about Bjork!!! She is TRUE to herself, no matter how strange she may seem to others. All music is art....but after a while of being in the business a lot of musicians lose their artistic touch. Bjork seems to just get more and more artistic as she ages. She experiments with different organic sounds, like ice crunching under your feet. Maybe I just love her because it is obvious that she has a deep love of nature...as do I! I love that she likes to play with and manipulate her voice. Her outfits, costumes, hair, and face paint ...along with her music force you to think outside the box. Plus the messages expressed in her songs are wonderfully awesome. So give her a listen, you won't regret it!!
